My New Motivation Trick
I have discovered a little trick for keeping myself motivated to get things done around the house throughout my day. Instead of making a lengthy to-do list, which can feel overwhelming and lead to a paralyzing, instantly defeated feeling (does this happen to anyone else?), I create my list in reverse, as an “already done” list.
In the morning, I write on the bathroom mirror with dry-erase marker the words: “TODAY I:”. Then, as I get things done, I write them down underneath. This activates my inner sense of competition, as I want to make the list longer and longer. I am challenging myself to see how many things I can add to the list, and when Jeramy comes home at the end of the work day, it makes me feel good to have a list of accomplishments to show off.
If to-do lists stress you out more than motivate you, maybe this trick could work for you too.

I’ve done that – not exactly but I have added things I have already done to a to do list and checked them off! I like them on the bathroom mirror!!!
I used to do that too. Add stuff just for the feeling of crossing it out. Especially when I didn;t do the other stuff that was already on the list.
What an awesome idea! Seriously, I love this. I’d probably start writing all over the walls, though just so everyone in my family could see all of the work I’ve done. Hmmmmmm.
Hahaha, I love it.
Very cool idea
Clever!
